Madelines

Madelines are a classic French tea treat known for their delicate shell-shaped appearance and buttery flavor. They are perfect for an afternoon tea or as a delightful sweet treat any time of the day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 375F 190C and grease a Madeline pan with butter or non-stick spray

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until well combined

Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the bowl, and mix until smooth

Slowly pour in the melted butter and vanilla extract while continuing to mix

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the batter for at least 30 minutes

Once chilled, spoon the batter into the prepared Madeline pan, filling each shell-shaped indentation about 3/4 full

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges of the Madelines turn golden brown

Remove the Madelines from the oven and let them cool in the pan for a few minutes

Gently transfer the Madelines to a wire rack to cool completely

Dust the Madelines with powdered sugar before serving
